With the rich history of WERD in America; as the 1st Black owned Radio Station in the United States and the historical comprisement of its members Marsha Washington George (niece of the station's 1st Program Director and later owner of the call letters), Jill Gibson Bell (daughter of Jack "Jockey Jack" Gibson later known as "Jack the Rapper", Casual Cal - Station Manager, Troy D.J. Commando as Program Director and Radio Consultant Harry Lyles along with many talented announcers; the Atlanta Chapter of the organization is proceeding with professing all of what the station once procured for the city; and, what the Hall of Fame's meaning would be for projecting African American History. The renovated properties of the WERD Station will comprise of a walk in view of the original station and will host a museum comprising of the former years of radio broadcasting with the various artifacts and voice overs that embellished the local listeners ears over the airwaves of the 860 AM station as it portrayed the best it had to the community. Reopening of the historic station is Winter 2023 at its original home and with the graces and permission of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge 7340 Old National Hwy Riverdale, Ga. 30296.
