Welcome to the East Texas Chapter of the National Black Radio Hall of Fame

 

 

 

 

In June 1993; Cynther Jones began her radio career as a volunteer radio personality on KJTX 104.5 FM in historic Jefferson, Tx.

From 2 to 6 on Saturdays, she hosted a Hip-Hop and Contemporary Gospel Show called, "Young Saturdays".  In 1997, she became the "Praise Reporter" for the "Fruit of the Spirit" television ministry.  In 2009, she became Producer at KGLD 1330- AM .  In 2011 she was nominated for a Stellar Award for Gospel Annoucer of the Year;  which, she credits to the help of Dr. Bobby Jones.  Today Cynther has come on board as the President of the East Texas Chapter for our illustrious organization.  Cynther looks forward to bringing members to the organization in East Texas who have worked in all genres of  Black Radio and are willing to promote the historical entities it embellishes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

48 Year Radio Veteran -Civilian and Military (Iraq War Reporter); Dr. Shirley McKellar has been a dedicated broadcaster and community servant. 

Dr. McKellar is a retired U.S. Army Officer who has worked with feeding the homeless under the bridge on a weekly basis.  She is a Board Member of the Mental Health Advocacy Council at the VA Hospital in East Texas.  She was awarded Outstanding Business Woman of the Year by the National Black Mayors Association; she has been a Grant Reader for the National Institute of Health & Koman Foundation.  Her 40 years of entrepreneurship has helped to employ 100's of local citizens.  She has been recognized in the Who's Who Among Professional Females of America.

 

Dr. McKellar is very excited about becoming a part of the East Texas Chapter and looks forward to sharing her many years of broadcasting experiences with her chapter and community.
