TEXAS CHAPTER

 

 

 

 

Texas Chapter President is Dr. J. Thomas Smith, who is renowned as "The World Famous"; initiated his radio journey at WGPR-FM in Detroit.  He preceded Howard Stern at W4 in Detroit and took over from Wolfman Jack at XERB/XPRS.  As a staff announcer for the American Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS), his voice reached audiences in over 50 countries.  Smith has been honored with the Black Radio Exclusive (BRE) "Drummer Award" for being the "Black Personality of the Year on Pop Radio".  He spent three decades as a vital KMJQ/Majic 102.1 team member in Houston.  His book , "Black Radio: An American History". achieved the status of an Amazon #1 New Release.  Additionally,                                              he co-authored "Rise Above" with motivaitonal speakcr Les Brown.
